⛽Know the real cost of any journey
Enter a distance, your vehicle's fuel efficiency, and the current fuel price to see exactly what a trip costs. It works anywhere in the world — switch between km & litres, L/100km, or miles & gallons (mpg) — and can turn a daily commute into a monthly and yearly figure, or split the cost across a carpool.
🚗More than a one-off number
- Commute projection — tick the commute box to see what your drive really costs each month and year.
- Carpool split — divide the fuel bill between passengers to settle up fairly.
- Cost per km/mile — compare vehicles or routes on a like-for-like basis.
- Any units — metric or imperial, so it fits India, the UK, the US, Europe, and beyond.
🧮The formula
With km/L or mpg, fuel used is distance divided by efficiency. With L/100km, it's distance × efficiency ÷ 100. Multiply the fuel used by the price per litre or gallon to get the trip cost.
💡Save on fuel
- Smooth driving and correct tyre pressure noticeably improve efficiency.
- Carpooling halves or quarters your per-person cost — use the split feature to see it.
- Compare the yearly commute cost against public transport before deciding.
- Track your real efficiency over a few tanks rather than trusting the brochure figure.
💡 Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate the fuel cost of a trip?+
Fuel used = Distance ÷ Efficiency (or Distance × Efficiency ÷ 100 for L/100km), then Cost = Fuel used × Price per unit. For example, 500 km at 20 km/L and ₹100/L costs ₹2,500.
Does it work with miles and gallons?+
Yes. Choose the 'miles · gallons (mpg)' unit option and the calculator uses miles for distance, gallons for fuel, and price per gallon.
Can it work out my monthly commute cost?+
Yes. Tick the commute box and enter trips per month — it projects the monthly and yearly fuel cost, and can split it between carpool passengers.
